Town To Face Scottish Students

Supporters will get their first glimpse in Town colours of Martin Wood, Brett McDermott, Stuart Rhodes, Gary Ruddy and the other recent signings when Town entertain the Scottish Students in a pre-season friendly at Derwent Park on Saturday, November 17.

Town faced the Scottish Students in a pre-season friendly two years ago. The Scots now boast a stronger side and should give Town a rigorous workout.

The Scots reached the semi-final of the recent Students Europa Cup but lost out to England by one point. They will include Town A-team forward James Mackay and Haven centre Ryan Campbell in their team.

Although Gary Murdock knows who will fill a couple of key roles in December 2nd's first league game against visitors Sheffield, there is expected to be competition for the remaining places in the starting line up amongst Derwent Park's strong squad.

Injury Blow For Town Youngster

Kevin Wilson is likely to miss the start of the season after learning his ankle injury is more serious than first thought.

He sprained his ankle in training and it was thought he would be out for just a couple of weeks, but it is now feared it has caused an old injury to flare and it may need to be set in plaster.
