An Eagle has landed at Derwent Park
Town continue to show that they have high ambitions for the new season after Martin Wood was unveiled as the latest recruit at Derwent Park.
Martin is arguably one of the best players in the division can fill a variety of positions including stand-off, but his best rugby is played from the back of a dominant pack.
It is hoped that he will provide that missing spark of creativity that was missing last year with his trademark little "shimmy" that wrong foots the defense. He is very influential in the attacking phase and is renowned as a natural ball player who is very skillful in making the space and then passing into the gap.
Martin joins Town from Keighley where he was a key figure in the successes of the Cougars in the mid nineties.
He left the Cougars in 1997 along with Nick Pinkney to join the super league with Sheffield Eagles. During this spell with Sheffield, he played in one of the most exciting cup finals of all time, and also one of the biggest upsets, when Sheffield beat Wigan at Wembley in 1998.
