Second fight back secures Derby win for Alliance team

The Alliance team staged a fighting 2nd half comeback against Whitehaven tonight (Wed 2nd May). Haven had controlled the first half and led 0 - 8 thanks to a try from Ryan Campbell. Paul Graham added a conversion and a penalty.

Whitehaven's spoiling tactics and some very poor refereeing decisions had stifled Town and prevented them from scoring.

In the second half Town took control. An excellent team effort saw some very strong, powerful running from all the players and good handling resulted in them running in 6 tries, before Haven scored a late consolation try but the final score looked good at Town 30 - 12 Haven.

Tries: Matthew Woodcock, Jamie Nixon, Craig Barker, Adam Coulson 2 and David Fletcher.
Goals: Adam Coulson 3
Team: Adam Coulson, Scott Chilton, Kevin Wilson, Matthew Woodcock, Jonathan Heaney, Craig Rumney, Stuart Ackerley, Craig Barker, Barrie Murdock, James McKay, Jamie Nixon, Paul Bell, Ryan Dobie.
Subs: Anthony Horton, Kevin Heskett, David Fletcher, John Addison.

Town add to squad

The latest recruit to the Town squad made his debut in tonight's Alliance game against Whitehaven at Derwent Park.

Ryan Dobie a member of last season's very successful Academy team has signed until the end of the season. The second row forward has been playing Rugby Union with Workington Zebras and has been described as one of the best talents in either code.

Ryan is the brother of Carlisle United ace Scott Dobie and has been watched by the Town coaching staff several times recently.

Gary Murdock has such a high opinion of the youngster that he believes him capable of forcing himself into contention for the first-team trip to Rochdale on Sunday.
