Kipper rejoins Town

Craig 'Kipper' Fisher rejoined Town last Thursday. Craig has been playing Rugby Union as well as recently playing for Whitehaven on a trial basis.

Craig had a successful tour to New Zealand with the GB students were he was named man of the match.

Murdock calls for fans to back the team

Gary Murdock has called for the missing fans to return to Derwent Park and get behind the team. Gary made the appeal after a crowd of only 1,710 watched the tie with Wakefield at the weekend.

Town had been looking for a near 3,000 gate against the super League side to use as move evidence that the area could support its own team in the top flight. Murdock said "I just wish they would come back and give the team the backing that it needs."

"We have two important games coming-up, both at home, in the next seven days when it will be possible for us to push nearer to our ambitions of a top eight place."

"If we can beat Chorley on Wednesday and Sheffield on Sunday, and other results go our way, then we can start to challenge seriously for a play-off place."

"The Northern Ford Premiership is our main target this season."

"And I'm just hoping that the players who took the knocks against Wakefield will have recovered to play on Wednesday night."

Hitro Okesene and Lokeni Savelio were both injured during the first half on Sunday as well as Graeme Lewthwaite and Steven McGrady who also picked up knocks during the match.
