DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, DING, .........It's okay! I have managed, for the moment, to switch the bleedin' alarm bell off.

However I can still hear the convening throng exclaiming "Murdock out, out, out", "string him up", "bring back hanging", "off with his head!". This gathering crowd (well, two at my last count, one more does officially make a crowd - especially during some delicate personal moments) has all the answers regarding the future well being of Workington Town. They don't go to any (many) matches, although they are literate(?) - (see evidence of spelling) enough to advise others on Rugby Leagues rudiments, and are obviously thoroughly well versed in the Rugby League coaching manual. In fact legends of the game - in their own minds - I guess, or are they just bleating lambs?

In fact to be honest it is probably a more professional attitude to ignore such folks idealistic, er, how can I put it? Oh yes, rubbish. But I am just once more wheeling out my weekly hobby horse, and despite the current weather I am afflicted more by writers block, than any sun induced block, so lads, you have my divided attention.

What appears to be lacking from the input, (hey it is on this site, incidentally, in case I have bemused you already) of these gents is any sensible formulae for improvement, I repeat sensible, not the knee jerk dross.

I must agree, if anyone else does, I do wish Murdoch had never been afforded the welcome mat in the first place, Rupert of that ilk is whom I refer to. Surname sounds the same as my friends target whichever spelling applies, he has done more harm to this greatest game than good. The Northern Ford Premiership is still a very competitive league, Town's latest defeats are just added proof of this fact. But the stigma of almost nothing to aim for, no genuine goal ahead, has certainly provoked apathy amidst the less than ardent fans of the game. And that is an appalling situation which must be countered, mass cries for the sacking of coaches because of a couple of narrow-ish defeats will not bring the crowds flocking back through the turnstiles will it? It is more likely to confirm to the doubters that the NFP is not really worth watching.

Therefore please keep the negative proposals to your own thoughts, and why not try your utmost to apply the positive. In my humble opinion, not as a legend or lamb, it means on Sunday we on the Derwent Park terraces should convey to the visitors that we signify trouble for them. So give the lads that extra lift by urging them on right from the start. Yes it is bound to be another tough ask for our team, but given proper support I honestly believe the Vikings can be scuppered.

And I fully expect that if Workington pillage the points those same moaners will be first to pay respects, c'est la vie.

Now I'll get off defensive style hoss, and have a la'al moan of my own. Well why not? By the way if you want have a say, agreeing with me or otherwise - see the top right corner of this page, OK?

The Wednesday defeat at Doncaster wasn't the only setback from the Dragons lair we suffered during this last week. The Southern tykes also disappointed the Workington Town Academy personnel with a late postponement of last Sunday's fixture at Doncaster. I have been associated with this branch of the club for a few years now and, thankfully, match postponements are at a minimum. However I thought last weeks excuse, as portrayed by the Donny official statement, was just a classic....."We have no goal posts available for use". Could they not see wood for the trees? Oh dear, the academy management should give them some stick for that, but then "I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay". No I don't have a wooden heart.

Enough, enough, or those alarm bells will maybe sound off again - I repeat get behind the lads on Sunday, and perhaps silence those 'lambs'.
