Last weeks cup exit certainly provoked the emotions to flow. Sadly for 'Townies' via the wrong reason, with our favourites bowing out to what looked (on the day) a very good Super league outfit. Wakefield had definitely prepared well for the occasion. A friendly(?) versus one of the British games 'big four' would have undoubtedly given the Cats a useful workout. They also travelled on the Saturday, staying overnight at Carlisle. So they were not at all travel weary.

The only blot on the Trinitys weekend was caused by some academy players. The 'kittens' had been included in the travelling party for the experience (a great gesture, in my biased opinion of course). And a couple of wayward youths strayed and caused an alcohol related problem (allegedly) which I'm informed earned them the sack...gosh, don't mess with the Cats. That episode obviously didn't upset the main Wakefield goal of sacking Town from the 'twickers trail'.

The post match tension was quite melodramatic, with the hyper critics almost blowing a fuse while hurriedly diagnosing all the ailments that the players, and coach, and others, were suffering from.

I believe however, despite the adrenaline running hot and scary, some of the 'outside' advice is accurate, and sensible, some - I hasten to confirm. What we don't need is the bitter sledgeing of the Town players who, whether you like it, or believe it, are fully committed to the clubs agenda of making the top eight. Therefore I believe the hyper emotive stuff can be so very useful if channelled in the right direction - e.g. by getting behind the lads right from the kick off.

Do this - on Sunday, let Sheffield feel under the cosh from the terraces, and I'm sure the Town players will inherit the feelgood factor and stabilise the current ninth position in the NFP. I must share one more thought back on the challenge cup trail. Not with reference to Town but our 'neighbours'. It is an anxiety I've taken on board regarding the amazing St.Helens issue. The development of a shocking announcement that their directors are withholding incentive payments has upset me. Surely that action must deflate team spirit? More importantly for us here in West Cumbria - will it in fact give the 'marras' a chance of an upset? Please sort it Saints. Anyhow I've digressed we don't want to talk about that...(It is a worry though).

Back to Town matters and now 'lightening up a little' - we all should you know - Always look on the bright side of life is a tune not yet heard on the tannoy, can we have a blast please? On Wednesday night, with the team banging in the points, the DJ seemed to be going through an extensive repertoire including an amusing burst of The Flinstones for Wilmas first try.

Sorry for you popular side regulars who were left in a silent slumber because of apparent electrical problems. We were all rocking away in the stand, well three on the back row were actually. A talent scout noticed this and has requested we help out with further musical titillation for town fans. The chap represented Propstars a soon to be broadcast TV series, and invited us to his studios for a recording session. The popular side will soon hear quite different versions of Townie classics. (Or would you prefer the electrician to leave the plug out?)
